Out of all the different type of breeds why should you choose a Pug? Well for starters, they are one of the more unique breed that has held up it’s names in history for a long time. But that alone is probably not a good enough reason for choosing the Pug as your dog. Pugs make excellent pets, but they make excellent pets for some people and not others. - Full of energy – Younger Pugs tend to always be full of energy and playful. They will do almost anything for your attention just so you would join them in their silly games.
- Little dog – Because they are little dogs they are great house pets. You don’t necessarily need a huge yard for them to run around in. Your pug will most likely prefer the indoors more than the outdoors.
- Beautiful breed – Having a unique look, this breed is highly sought out by many people. It is a small bulky dog with an adorable face that will make any person want to come up and say hi. You can’t help but fall in love with your Pug the second you get him.
- They are loyal – If you earn their trust, pugs can be unbelievably loyal dogs. They will stick by you no matter and will even go out of their way to protect you. Although I have my doubts about them stopping any real threat, it’s the thought that matters.
Things to Consider
Your pug can began to show dominant behavior – For people that know how to properly handle these dogs, this won’t be a problem. But for those that don’t know how to properly show your dog that you are the head of the household, this can turn into a big problem.
They can’t handle too much exercise – This breed is not really for people that like to go running with their dogs. Since pugs are small with short and stubby legs it takes them more work to keep up with you if you are running or jogging.
This breed is susceptible to certain health issues – There are genetic diseases that pugs and some other small dog breeds are prone to have. For this and other reasons its important to know what you are getting with the dog before you get emotionally attached. Pugs also have a tendency to have some breathing problems and eye problems. But these can be easily dealt with if you know what you are doing
